Henbit-Lamium amplexicaule-also called Dead Nettle-makes a home in rich, moist soil in gardens, yards(it tries in mine),unmowed places and of course waste places. It’s life cycle is winter annual or biennial-it blooms in the second year and then dies. The plant variety I am familiar with is purple-there are red and spotted as well. While widespread throughout the US-there seems to be a heavier concentration in the South.Just when you thought the weeds were taking a break-here is one getting ready for Spring.
