Thoreau for your Tuesday…

“This is the seventh day of glorious weather.Perhaps these might be called Harvest Days.Within the week most of the apples have been gathered;corn is still left in the fields, where he can load them. The ground was so stiff on the 15th,in the morning, that some could not dig potatoes.Bent is now making haste to gather his apples.I.Wright.too, is collecting some choice barrels of golden russets. Many times he turns it over before he leaves out a specked one.”October 11,1856
