Pickerelweed-Pontederia cordata-in full bloom is a stunning array of bright blue flowers in beds of ponds and lakes.It is a coarse marsh-aquatic plant that tries to hold down the pond. The leaves are heart shaped and 6 inches wide.The plants grow from an underwater rhizome and seem to blanket the shore line.Pickerelweed is found mostly in the East and Midwest.
